Private Gallery Tour of the National Gallery of Art by Docent & Alum Pickett Randolph '56
Come for a special tour at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC to be conducted by Pickett Randolph '56, a Fox and long-time docent at the NGA. The NGA houses one of the great collections of Western art including many gifts from the Mellons as well as the only Leonardo da Vinci in the Western Hemisphere, purchased in 1967 for $5M by Paul Mellon. You and your party of up to 10 people will meet Pickett at the National Gallery of Art on a mutually agreeable day to enjoy a leisurely tour.
From Moran to Monet, Picasso to Pollock, Cassatt to Calder, Wyeth to Whistler, Stuart to Sargent, births and deaths, gods and goddesses -- the NGA has them all -- and many more. Come and enjoy our treasures.

Moon & Plums Japanese Hanging Scroll - Silk & Calligraphy
Kakejiku are Japanese hanging scrolls, mounted on a roll of cloth or paper, that show scenes of natural beauty or works of calligraphy known as kana-moji. This scroll depicts the calligraphy of a famous Japanese calligrapher Terada Sennsyuu. The translation of the calligraphy is "The moon and plum of spring and somewhat temperment. A long winter has gone, plums began to bloom. Even that alone is enough to please spring, but in addition the moon came out. With this, the actors in the early spring were fully assembled. Express the transition of a mild season in a relaxed picture and phrase."

One Month of Sculpting Class with Goksin Carey at Artists in Middleburg
Anatomy is the first and foremost important aspect of all the artistic learning processes. All first time students will start with horse head study. The horse head is used for it’s simplicity in understanding bone and muscle anatomy. The workshop will cover the following: Anatomy, Proportion, Understanding Negative and Positive space.

Each year, a Foxcroft art student - this year it is talented artist, Grace Chen '19 - donates an original piece of art for the Foxcroft Permanent Art Collection, commissioned by the winning bidder for this item in the Foxcroft Silent Auction. Bid on this item to be the "commissioner" of the piece. The Foxcroft Permanent Art Collection resides in the lobby of Schoolhouse where you can view previous commissioned works. Become a permanent part of Foxcroft's history, and bid generously on Grace's piece!
The online catalog shows a sample of Grace Chen's photographs, and the photograph on display is an example of Grace's work. The photograph that will go in the Foxcroft Permanent Art Collection has not yet been created.
The winning bidder becomes the donor of this "commissioned" artwork, and the item will reside in the Foxcroft Permanent Art Collection. The artist will meet with the winning bidders to discuss the commissioned work for the Permanent Art Collection. Commissioned pieces shall reflect some aspect of life at Foxcroft.
